As a freelance writer, you can finish your work whenever it fits your schedule. Your work can also be as big or small as you want it to be. If you just want to take an extra job here and there, writing a few hours each week, that’s possible. If you want to scale up and make freelance writing a full-time income, that’s possible, too.

About 15 years ago, I started my first blog when I was looking to make some extra money and work from home. That blog did quite well, and I left my full-time job about 1.5 years later. For the past 13+ years, I’ve been self-employed as a full-time blogger.
I recommend blogging as an excellent way to make good money because it changed my life. Blogging is a perfect way to make extra money on the side, and the income potential is unlimited. It takes work, but earning $1,000 a month is very possible.
There are several ways to make money with a blog, including:
Despite all the great things about blogging, there are also a few drawbacks. The most significant thing you need to know is that building a successful, profitable blog takes time. Most bloggers don’t make any money for several months, maybe longer. So if you need money quickly, starting a blog is probably not one of the best ideas for you.
However, if you have a long-term focus and can put in some work for a few months without the need to make money quickly, starting a blog can be a great idea with a big payoff.

7. Start a Niche Website
Niche websites are content-based sites very similar to blogs but with a few key differences, including:

Most niche websites are not personally branded like a lot of blogs are. The readers don’t necessarily care who is behind the niche website.

Typically, the approach involves creating content that targets specific keywords and phrases people are searching for. My wife and I started a side hustle selling private-label products on Amazon in 2015. That online business made a six-figure profit in 2016 (while working part-time), and we sold the business in 2017.
